Arctic fox

The Arctic Fox (Vulpes lagopus), also known as white fox, polar fox or snow fox, is a small fox in the Arctic region of the northern hemisphere, which is very common in the whole Arctic tundra community. It is very suitable for living in cold environment. Its fur is very deep, brown in summer and white in winter. Its body length ranges from 46 to 68 cm (18 to 27 inches) and has a roughly circular shape to minimize heat loss.

Arctic foxes prey on any small creature, such as lemmings, voles, ringed seal pups, fish, waterfowl, and seabirds. It also eats carrion, berries, seaweed, insects and other small invertebrates. During the breeding season, arctic foxes form a monogamous system. They gather together and grow up in complex underground nests. Sometimes other family members may help raise their children.
