Zombie

Zombies (Haitian French: Zombies, Haitian Creole: zonbi) are fictional undead creatures produced by resurrecting human corpses. Zombies are most common in horror and fantasy works. The term comes from Haitian folklore, where zombies are corpses restored to life by various means, most commonly magic. Modern zombie depiction does not necessarily involve magic, but often refers to science fiction methods, such as carriers, radiation, mental illness, media, viruses, scientific accidents, etc.

The English word "zombie" was first recorded in the form of "Zombi" by the poet Robert Southey in the history of Brazil in 1819. The Oxford English dictionary gives the origin of the word West Africa and compares it with the empty space words nzambi (God) and zumbi (fetishism).

W. B. magic island is one of the first books that exposed western culture to the concept of voodoo zombies. Seabrook, 1929. It's an exciting story for the narrator who met the voodoos in Haiti and resurrected sal. Time claimed that the book "introduced zombies in American speeches.".

Zombies have a complex literary heritage, whose predecessors include Richard Matheson, H. P. Lovecraft and Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. They learn from the legend of European dead. In 1932, Victor Halperin directed the horror movie white zombie starring Bella Lugosi. Here, the zombie is portrayed as an evil magician's spell, a clumsy, mindless companion. Zombies still use this voodoo inspired principle, which was not common in Cinemas at first, but their appearance continued sporadically between the 1930s and 1960s, including the famous films "walking with zombies" (1943) and "Plan 9 in outer space" (1959).

In the second half of the 20th century, a new version of zombies appeared in popular culture, which is different from the zombies described in Haitian folklore. The "zombie" is mainly based on George A. Romero's pioneering film "night of the living dead", which is partly inspired by Richard Matheson's 1954 Novel "I am a legend". The word zombie was not used in the night of the living dead, but it was later used by fans. Monsters and their sequels in movies, such as dawn of the dead and the day of the dead, as well as many of their inspired works, such as the return of the living dead and zombie 2, often yearn for the human body, despite the introduction of the popular concept of zombies devouring the brain. The concept of "the end of zombie world" makes the civilized world fall into a low tide because of the invasion of a large number of zombies in the world, which has become the main content of modern popular art.
