From the end of the 8th century to the end of the 11th century, they crossed the vast areas of northern Europe, Central Europe, Eastern Europe and Western Europe. In modern English and other languages, the term is often extended to Viking family communities in the Viking era. This period of military, commercial and demographic expansion in northern Europe was an important part of the early medieval history of Scandinavia, Estonia, the British Isles, France, Kiev Ross and Sicily.

With advanced navigation and navigation skills and a long history, Viking activities sometimes extend to the Mediterranean coast, North Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia. After the expansion stage of exploration, expansion and settlement (mainly spread by sea or river), Viking (Nordic) communities and regimes, the North Atlantic Islands and the northeast coast of North America have been established in different regions of northern Europe, Belarus, Ukraine and Europe Russia. The popularity of Vikings, the modern concept - which is often used casually for modern descendants and Scandinavian residents - is often quite different from the complexity of archaeological and historical data. In the 18th century, romantic portraits of noble Vikings savages began to appear. This phenomenon developed and spread widely in the 19th century during the Viking Renaissance. The view of Vikings is another kind of violence, pirate heretic or intrepid adventurer, which is largely due to the contradictory varieties of modern Viking myths formed in the early 20th century. The current popular Viking representative system is usually based on cultural stereotypes and stereotypes, which makes the modern appreciation of Viking heritage more complex.
