Postman, postman, female postman, postman, postman, female postman or letter postman (in American English), sometimes commonly known as post (in Australia, New Zealand, Scotland and other parts of the UK), employee of post office or postal service, who provides mail and parcels to residences and businesses. Shortly after women started this work, the term "postman" was used as a gender neutral alternative to "postman". In the Royal Mail, the official name was changed from "messenger" in 1883 to "postman", and "postman" has been used for many years.
