A beard is a collection of hair that grows on the chin and cheeks of humans and certain non-human animals. In humans, it's usually only adolescence or an adult male who has a beard. From an evolutionary point of view, whiskers are part of a broader category of androgen hairs. This is a remnant feature of human face and whole body since they have hair as long as gorilla hair. In some races, such as Native Americans and some East Asian populations, evolutionary hair loss is particularly evident in people with less facial hair, while in people of Mediterranean European or South Asian descent and Ainu, hair is more. Hirsutism is a hairy hormonal condition that may cause beard growth.
