Cowboys are animal herders who raise cattle on ranches in North America (traditionally on horseback) and often perform many other ranch related tasks. In the late 19th century, American cowboys with a long history originated from the tradition of vacquiro in northern Mexico, and became a special and legendary figure. A subtype known as the horse herder, which specializes in raising horses for cattle farming. In addition to working on the ranch, some Cowboys also perform or participate in rodeo. Female cowboys were initially defined as women in the late 19th century, but there are few documents about their historical roles. However, in the modern world, female cowboys have established the ability to perform almost the same tasks, and pay deep respect to their achievements. There are also cattle dealers in many other parts of the world, especially in South America and Australia, whose work is similar to that of cowboys in their respective countries.

Cowboys have a long history, which can be traced back to Spain and the first European and American settlers. Over the centuries, differences in topography, climate, and the influence of diverse cultures on cow handling traditions have created several distinct ways of handling equipment, clothing, and animals. As a practical cowboy adapted to the modern world, although it still retains many classic traditions today, the equipment and technology of cowboys are also adapted.
