Spoon is a kind of utensil which is composed of oval or round small shallow bowl at the end of handle. A cutlery (sometimes called cutlery in the United States), especially as part of cutlery, used primarily for service. Spoons are also used in food preparation to measure, mix, stir and mix ingredients. Today's spoons are made of metal (especially flat silver or silverware, plated or solid), wood, porcelain or plastic.

Spoon is mainly used for eating liquid or semi liquid food, such as soup, stew or ice cream, as well as very small or powdery solid items, such as rice, sugar, grains and peas, which are difficult to lift with a fork. In Southeast Asia, spoon is the main food tool. Forks are used to push food, such as rice, onto spoons and, in the west, to pierce food.
