"Little shark" is a children's song about shark family. Since 2016, it has been popular as a bonfire song and spread through social media, online video and radio.
"Little shark" originated from bonfire songs or hymns. Some sources refer to traditional myths as the basis, while others originated in the early 20th century, which some believe may have been developed by training camp consultants inspired by the movie "jaws.". It became a bonfire song and each member of the shark family introduced it with different gestures. Different versions of the song have sharks hunting fish, eating sailors or killing people, and then these people go to heaven.
Various entities own the copyright of the original video and recording of songs, and some own trademark goods according to their versions; however, the underlying songs and roles are believed to belong to the public domain.
The dance version of "little shark" was popular online in the 2007 YouTube video "little sea shark" (in German, "Kleiner Hai") and released by Alexandra m ü ller, whose stage name is alemuil. With the theme of "great white shark", this version tells the story of a shark growing up and able to swim. The video quickly became popular, and EMI records provided alemuel with records and released songs with disco beats on May 30, 2008. Singles ranked 25th in Germany and 21st in Austria. The YouTube community produced pop music videos based on singles and raw videos. The German version of the song is still popular among German youth groups and has been released in a variety of variants (also in different German sayings).
Pinkfong, an education brand within smartstudy, a South Korean media start-up, made videos that further popularized the song "baby shark.". The original video of "baby shark" (Korean: 상어가족; RR: Sang EO gajok; lit shark family) was uploaded on November 26, 2015. As of November 2019, all videos related to pinkfong songs have been watched about 5 billion times, making it the most watched educational video phenomenon in history.
The version of the song was performed by the then 10-year-old Korean singer hope segoine. There are two children's actors in the music video, one of whom is Elaine Johnston, a 9-year-old New Zealand Korean Scottish child actor.
The song begins with Anton í n Dvo á K's Symphony No. 9, and sounds similar to the music in the movie jaws. The song features a group of sharks that hunt fish that escape to safety. It became a viral video of Indonesia in 2017 and spread throughout the year to many other Asian countries, especially Southeast Asian countries. The relevant mobile app is one of the top 10 downloads in the family app categories in South Korea, Bangladesh, Singapore, Hong Kong and Indonesia in 2017.
As of November 2019, the most popular video of "baby shark" Song (marked as "baby shark dance") was uploaded on June 17, 2016 [20], which has gained more than 3.9 billion views worldwide, making it the fifth most viewed video on YouTube. As Billboard Hot 100 music leaderboard was changed in 2012 to take account of the number of YouTube Videos viewed online, "baby shark" entered the 32nd place of Billboard Hot 100 in the week of January 7, 2019.
Due to its popularity, this version of the song sparked an online dance craze (sometimes referred to as the "baby shark challenge") and was hailed as "the next big thing after Jiangnan style". K-pop groups, including blackpink, have been praised for their coverage of songs and dances, especially in their selected TV shows and concerts. The song began to spread in the western world in August 2018.
