Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton (born on October 26, 1947) is an American statesman. She was the 67th Secretary of state from 2009 to 2013, the senator of New York State from 2001 to 2009, the first lady of the United States from 1993 to 2001, and the Democratic Party was nominated as the president of the United States in the 2016 general election.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, Clinton grew up in the Chicago suburb of Park Ridge, graduated from Wellesley College in 1969, and received a doctor of law degree from Yale Law School in 1973. 1975. In 1977, she co founded the Arkansas Children's and family advocates organization. She was appointed the first female chairman of the legal services company in 1978 and became the first female partner of Ross law firm the following year. As Arkansas's first lady, she led a task force whose advice helped reform public schools in Arkansas.
As the first lady of the United States, Clinton advocated gender equality and health care reform. During the Lewinsky scandal, public speculation about her relationship with her husband forced her to issue a statement reaffirming her commitment to marriage. Clinton was elected New York's first female senator in 2000. She was re elected to the Senate in 2006. She won far more delegates in 2008 than any other female candidate, but lost to Barack Obama in the Democratic nomination.
Clinton responded to the Arab spring when she served as secretary of state in the Obama administration from 2009 to 2013, during which she advocated US military intervention in Libya. She helped organize diplomatic isolation and international sanctions against Iran in an effort to reduce the country's nuclear program, which will eventually lead to a Multi Country joint comprehensive action plan agreement in 2015. After Obama took office, she wrote her fifth book and gave a speech.
Clinton ran for president for the second time in 2016. She won the largest number of votes and major representatives in the 2016 Democratic primary election, and formally accepted the party's US presidential nomination on July 28, 2016, together with her vice presidential running partner, Senator Tim Kane. She became the first female candidate nominated by a major political party in the United States. Despite winning a majority in the referendum, Clinton lost to her Republican rival, Donald Trump, to elect college and the presidency. After her loss, she decided in 2017 to focus on becoming a citizen who called herself an "activist.".
