Coconut tree (coconut tree) is a member of areca family (Palmaceae) and the only species of coconut tree. The term coconut can refer to the whole coconut tree or seed, or fruit, which, in plants, are drupes rather than nuts. Spelling cocoa butter is an old form of the word. The term derives from the Portuguese and Spanish word coco of the 16th century, meaning "head" or "skull," and from three indentations on coconut shells that resemble facial features.
Coconuts are known for their versatility, as evidenced by many traditional uses, from food to cosmetics. They are part of the daily diet of many people in the tropics and subtropics. Coconuts are different from other fruits because of their large amount of water (also known as "juice"). When they are immature, they are called tender or jelly nuts and can be harvested by drinking coconut water. When mature, they can be used as seed kernels, or processed to extract oil from kernels, charcoal from hard shells, and coconut shells from fiber shells. Endosperm is initially in its nuclear phase, suspended in coconut water. With the development, the cell layer of endosperm deposited along the coconut wall and became edible coconut "pulp". After drying, the coconut meat is called coconut. The oil and milk derived from it are commonly used in cooking and frying, as well as in soap and cosmetics. Rice husks and leaves can be used as materials for making various furniture and decorative products. In some societies, coconuts also have cultural and religious significance, especially in India, where Hinduism is used to coconuts.
