A globe is a three-dimensional spherical scale model of the earth (globe or geoglobe) or other celestial bodies (such as planets or the moon). Although a model can be composed of objects with arbitrary or irregular shapes, the term globe is only used for an object model that approximates a sphere. The word "globe" comes from the Latin word Globus, meaning round substance or sphere. Some include reliefs to show mountains and other features of the earth's surface.
