Silver

Silver is a chemical element with the symbol Ag (from Latin, from Greek??????"luster" or "white") and the atomic number 47. A soft, white, glossy transition metal with the highest chemical content. Conductivity, thermal conductivity and reflectivity of any metal. Metals found in the earth's crust are in the form of pure, free elements ("natural silver"), alloys with gold and other metals, and minerals such as argyroxene and chlorite. Most silver is a byproduct of copper, gold, lead and zinc refining.

Silver has long been regarded as a precious metal. Silver is used in many gold and silver coins, sometimes with gold: although it is richer than gold, it is less abundant as a natural metal. The purity is usually measured in meters; alloys with a purity of 94% are described as "0.940 fine.". As one of the seven ancient metals, silver has a lasting role in most human cultures.

In addition to money, silver is used in many other applications, such as solar panels, water filters, jewelry, decorations, high-value tableware and utensils (hence silver), and as an investment medium (coins and gold bars). Silver is used industrially in the catalysis of electrical contacts and conductors, special mirrors, window coatings, and chemical reactions. Silver compounds are used in photographic films and X-rays. Dilute silver nitrate solutions and other silver compounds are used as disinfectants and microbicides (microkinetic) and are added to bandages and wound dressings, catheters and other medical devices.
