Skunks are mammals because they can spray liquids with a strong, unpleasant smell. Different kinds of skunks look from black and white to brown or beige, but all have warning colors.

Skunk species range in length from 15.6 to 37 inches (40 to 94 cm) and weigh from 1.1 pounds (0.50 kg) (spotted skunk) to 18 pounds (8.2 kg) (pig nosed skunk). They have a moderately slender body, short and muscular legs, long forepaws, and are easy to excavate.

Although the most common fur colors are black and white, some skunks are brown or gray, and some are milky white. All skunks are striped, even from birth. They may have a thick stripe on their back and tail, two thinner stripes, or a series of white spots and broken stripes (for spotted skunks). Some people also have stripes on their legs. Skunks are omnivorous, eating plant and animal food and changing their diet with the seasons. They eat insects and larvae, earth, G, rodents, lizards, Sal, frogs, snakes, birds, moles and eggs. They also usually eat berries, roots, leaves, grass, fungi and nuts.

In settlement areas, skunks also look for human waste. Skunks are rarely found as scavengers, eating the carcasses of birds and rodents left behind by cats or other animals. Pet owners, especially cat owners, may encounter skunks and find them in garages or basements where pet food is stored. Skunks usually dig holes in the lawn to find g and worms.

Skunks are one of the main predators of bees and rely on their thick fur to protect them from stings. The skunk scratched at the front of the hive and ate the guard bee to be investigated. As we all know, skunk mothers teach young people this behavior.
