Steven Paul Jobs is an American entrepreneur, businessman, inventor and industrial designer. He was chairman, CEO and co-founder of Apple Inc. CEO and major shareholder of Pixar; [2] board member after Walt Disney Company acquired Pixar; founder, chairman and CEO of next. Jobs and apple co-founder Steve Wozniak are recognized as the pioneers of the microcomputer revolution in the 1970s and 1980s.

Jobs was born in San Francisco, and parents had to raise him at birth. He grew up in the Bay Area in the 1960s. Jobs briefly entered Reed College in 1972 and then dropped out. Then, in 1974, he decided to go to India to seek enlightenment and study Zen Buddhism. According to an FBI report declassified by jobs, an acquaintance knew that jobs used illegal drugs like marijuana and LSD when he was in college. Jobs once told reporters that taking psychedelic drugs was "one of two or three things he did" in his life.

Jobs and Wozniak co founded apple in 1976 to sell Wozniak's apple I personal computer. Visionary people gained fame and fortune in the first successful mass-produced personal computer, Apple II, a year later. In 1979, after visiting Parc, jobs saw the commercial potential of Xerox Alto, which is mouse driven and has a graphical user interface (GUI). This led to the failure of Apple Lisa in 1983, followed by the breakthrough Macintosh in 1984. In addition to being the first mass-produced computer with GUI, Macintosh also caused the sudden rise of desktop publishing industry in 1985. In 1997, apple merged with next. Within months of the merger, jobs became the CEO of his former company; he was on the brink of bankruptcy, reviving apple. From the 1997 "different thinking" advertising campaign, jobs worked closely with designer Jonathan Ive to develop a series of products with greater cultural impact: iMac, iTunes and iTunes Store, Apple store, iPod, iPhone, app store, and iPad. In 2001, the original MAC OS was replaced by the new Mac OS X based on next's nextstep platform, which made the OS become the modern foundation based on UNIX for the first time.

Jobs was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumor of the pancreas in 2003 and died on October 5, 2011 from a respiratory arrest associated with the tumor.
