K

K-is the 11th letter of modern English letters and ISO Basic Latin letters. In English, the letter K usually represents a silent fibrous burst.

Does the letter K come from Greek? (kappa), taken from samitic kaph (symbol of open hand). In turn, this may have been adapted by the Semitic tribes living in Egypt, who came from the hieroglyph "hand" and represented D in Egyptian sign language d-r-t. It is obvious that the Semitic family assigned sound value / K / to it, because their hand sound starts from the sound.

In the earliest Latin inscriptions, the letters C, K and Q were used to denote sound / K / and /? /There is no difference in writing. Where q is used to indicate / K / or /? /, K before / A /, C in other positions. Later, the use of C and its variant g replaced most of the K and Q used. K survived in only a few fossil forms, such as the kalendea, or "calendar.".

After bringing Greek words into Latin, translate kappa into C. Loanwords with / K / tone in other letters are also transliterated as C. Therefore, the romantic language usually uses C when imitating the usage of classical Latin and has k which is only used in loanwords from other language groups in the future. Celtic languages also tend to use C rather than k, an influence that has continued into old English.

Today, English is the only Germanic language that can effectively use a "tough" language. (outside "CK" in the figure) not "K"? (although Dutch uses it in Latin borrowed words, and these words have the same hard / soft pronunciation as English). [need to quote] letters? k? The beginning of the English word is silent before the letter "n", such as "Knight", "knife", "knot", "know" and "knee". Like J, x, Q and Z, K is not very commonly used in English. It is the fifth letter with the lowest frequency in English, and the word frequency is about 0.8%.
