H

H-IS the eighth letter of the Basic Latin alphabet of ISO.

The original Semitic letter Heth is most likely to represent the voiceless pharyngeal fricative. The letter may take the form of a fence or post.

In ancient Greek letters, the Greek ETA "H" is still expressed as / h / (later it means a longer vowel). In this case, the letter ETA is also known as heta to emphasize this fact. Therefore, in the old italics, the heta of the euboean letter and its original sound value / h / were used.

Although / h / is used as a phoneme in Etruscan and Latin, almost all Romanian languages lost their voice - Romanian later borrowed / h / from its neighboring Slavic language, and Spanish developed auxiliary / h / before / F /. Once again, it has been lost; in most Spanish speaking countries, various Spanish dialects have developed into [H] as a / S / or / X / heterophone, while Portuguese dialects also use it as a / h / heterophone. "H" is also used in many spelling systems of two and three letter combinations, such as "ch", which means h in Spanish, Galicia, old Portuguese and English, / h / in French and modern Portuguese, / K / and English in Italian, French, / X /They are German, Czech, polish, Slovak, a native word of English, several borrowed words of English, and h of German.
